Six Tips for Sweat Proof Makeup

Me: *is naturally beautiful*
Also me: *wears makeup so I can be supernaturally beautiful*

It feels like we’re so close to fall ever since July ended. Unfortunately, it doesn’t feel like we’re so close to cooler fall weather. Leigha and I are much busier in the end of summer, and because we have so many big events coming up, we spent the beginning of summer perfecting our sweat-proof makeup routines. Here are are 6 tips we swear by to prevent your makeup from melting off your face.

Krystal’s Tips:

1. Never EVER skip primer

I swear by Benefit’s Pore-fessional Face Primer. I hate my large pores and tend to be oiliest around my t-zone so, the pore-minimizing and oil control properties of the Pore-fessional really suite my skin concerns — especially in the heat! Find a primer that feels like a second skin and your foundation will look flawless!

2. Exfoliate regularly

Exfoliating removes the barrier of dead skin cells clogging the skin and uncovers fresh new cells allowing your skincare products to penetrate deeper and work more effectively. No foundation will ever look great unless you take care of the skin underneath. I’m obsessed with the Clinique exfoliating brush, and I’m even more obsessed with how baby soft and smooth my skin feels after using it. My skin tends to be sensitive so, I only exfoliate twice a week using my regular gentle cleanser. I can definitely tell a difference in how well my primer and foundation looks after exfoliating!

3. Invest in a tinted moisturizer

Sometimes using too many full coverage products causes them to work against each other and I’m left with anything BUT full coverage. I found that using a tinted moisturizer (or a bb or cc cream) accompanied with my favorite face powder (MAC’s mineral skin finish) gives me the perfect coverage and never looks cakey if I need to apply more powder throughout the day. My current favorite is from Bare Minerals, which also has an anti-blemish formula for anyone like me who tends to have regular breakouts.

Leigha’s Summer Ready Make-up Tips:

Since I already live in Satan’s basement (aka Florida) I have to do any and EVERY thing I can to look presentable during the summer heat. My biggest and most fail proof tip is to focus your makeup routine on the areas that will be least affected from sweat. These areas for me are my lashes, brows, and lips!

1. Lashes

Now lashes are contingent on whether or not sunglasses will be worn throughout the day. If I know I more than likely will not be taking them off, I opt out of wearing my fav set of false lashes. However, if I will not be wearing my hater blockers (lol I should grow up), I love slapping on a natural looking set of false eyelashes! And the best part is, a little sweat drop will not have me crying black tears for the rest of the day.

2. Brows

For brows I never stray from my Anastasia Beverly Hills brow kit. I personally love the taupe powder but if you’re wanting some extra definition, try the dipbrow pomade. Top your face caterpillars off with her clear brow gel and those babies will be going no where!

3. Lips

It’s super easy for your lips to be dried out in the summer, so I always love a good tinted lip balm. Burt’s Bees has some amazing ones that are both moisturizing and refreshing!
